Hi there. I hope the week is off to a good start. I’m long overdue announcing some giveaway winners + a have a weekend recap for you.
Weekend first…
WEEKEND
The weekend included a lot of hanging out with my favorite little man. Still working on learning to love tummy time. A friend gave us this water mat that seems to help and I’m hoping he’ll find it more and more interesting as he gets a little older! He’s also started rolling from his back to his belly so he’s also getting some self-inflicted tummy time these days too.
On Friday afternoon I had a package to mail at the post office and then we ended up driving around for a while. I decided a stop into Laurel Market for some cake was necessary.
The weather was gorgeous on Friday so we hung out outside on a blanket for a little while that evening and then took our second walk of the day. I love being outside! Finn does too.
Friday ended with leftovers and coconut cake on the couch.
We met a friend for coffee and a stroll around the farmers market on Saturday morning.
Tomato sandwich lunch. I’ve been adding bacon to all of my tomato sandwiches lately and it’s a good addition. 😉
Virginia came over for dinner on Saturday night. She brought coho salmon, asparagus and salad stuff and I made cheese grits. Virginia is really into her sous vide cooker and brought it over to cook the salmon.
Sous vide means “under vacuum” in French. You vacuum-seal what you’re making in a bag and then it cooks in a water bath to the temperature you set it to cook to.
The salmon was perfectly cooked and melt in your mouth tender. I was impressed by the sous vide!
Sunday started with snuggles and HGTV on the couch.
And then my longest postpartum run yet. I ran 5 miles and felt much more like my pre-pregnancy running self. Nothing felt weird or off other than needing to pump when I got home.
We did a lot of hanging around the house and a little errand running. I had to grab a few things at the grocery store but we mostly stuck close to home.
The evening ended with a walk around the neighborhood with Finn and the pups.
And doing some damage to the Laurel Market carrot cake. Finn is starting to get a bit grabby and was holding onto the cake container while I was eating. And yes, that is a crumb under his eye. 🙂

QUESTIONS
Did you get outside this weekend? If so, what did you do?
Have you tried sous vide? Favorite thing to cook?
Yay congrats on the run! Nothing feels better than doing something and feeling back to pre-baby self 🙂 I feel like I’m almost there with running again. Have a great week!
Thank you so much. It felt freaking amazing!!!!!
Hey, wow! I can’t believe I won a giveaway…Thanks! 🙂
Running is just everything to me, so I am SO glad you had a good five miles. I had been struggling with an injury since last November and am finally out there running 3 ish miles, 3-4 times a week and just so grateful for every step. Can’t wait to build up to 5 miles… such a great distance. <3
Yes you did! I emailed you.
Really glad to hear that you’re getting back to running after your injury. It’s such an amazing feeling to get back out there after having it taken away for a while!
Thank you so much. Running is my #1 healthy coping mechanism for my mental health and I’m so grateful for it.
We spent a lot of time outside this weekend as that is my daughter’s happy place too. It was a little hot but she didn’t mind.
We have a sous vide and love it. We use it for salmon weekly and steaks a lot too. Just finish things off in a hot skillet or the grill to get some sear on the outside.
And don’t worry too much about tummy time. My daughter hated it, then loved it suddenly and then moved right on to sitting and crawling. It’s important, but not all babies love it!
Virginia told me she also does the “sear to finish” with sous vide! Thanks for the reassurance on tummy time. It is just not his fave at all!
Sounds like a fun relaxing weekend.
We have a sous vide and have made pork loin (SO delish), veggies, steak and more. We did shrimp but I was not impressed so we will grill them before eating the rest. But it’s awesome, we just cook and then freeze for another time. I’ll tell hubby we need to try salmon. I have not been too into fish lately but salmon does sound good.
Sous vide pork loin sounds so good! I may just have to get one for myself!
I have a sous vide and love it. My husband bought it and I wasn’t really very excited about it but it’s fantastic. It makes dinner prep so much easier and faster. (Very important with kids! 🙂 I can take a tougher cut of meat and under the sous vide it’s perfectly tender.
