Hi and hope your week is off to an amazing start!
It felt nice to stay in Charlotte this weekend after traveling for the last two weekends. It made me appreciate my little weekend routines even more…especially the farmers market!
On Friday night I led a yoga boot camp at Y2 with my fiance. It was two hours full of flow, sweat, challenges and deep stretch and so much fun!
We had 50 recruits and everyone left happy and exhausted…but wanting to know when we were going to do it again! 😉
My first stop on Saturday morning was the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market. Going two weeks without having my fridge stocked with food from my favorite local farmers was tough. I felt like I was missing out on so much summer goodness.
I left with two bags full of burgundy okra, heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, pole beans, eggplant, peppers, Italian sausage, bone-in pork chops, peaches and blackberries.
I predict I’ll be seeing all things pumpkin and fall pop up in stores and online anytime now so I’m soaking up summer while I can.
I stopped by the new Juice Bar at Providence Plaza after teaching my Saturday yoga class. I tried the Ginger Greens with ginger, apple, kale, spinach, cucumber, lemon and parsley. I don’t like parsley in my juice so I asked for them to leave it out. It took a really long time for my juice to come out with the special order but it was worth the wait. I really appreciated that it wasn’t too sweet and I always love a ginger kick in my juice. Their prices are really reasonable…$5.50 for small which was 12 ounces and $7.50 for large which was 20 ounces. They also gave me a coupon to come back again for a free juice because mine took so long to come out.
I got my fruit in after getting my greens in…via white wine sangria! I stopped by a friend’s birthday pool party for a couple hours and had a plate of barbecue and a glass of sangria. It was like a fruit salad there was so much floating!
Later that evening we had a special yoga class at the studio for one of our friends who is moving away. She did teacher training with me and has been a friend of the studio and a supporter of the Charlotte yoga community for the long time. Her parting wish was for a donation class led by a “mash-up” of teachers who have been important in her yoga journey. Her cause of choice was the Jamie Kimbell Foundation for domestic violence. It was an INCREDIBLE class. I can’t even begin to describe it.
I rocked my post-yoga glow after class and got dressed up for a party after class. I bought this romper in NYC last weekend at Bloomingdale’s. It’s a major step outside of my fashion comfort zone but I LOVE IT! Here’s the link to the romper on Bloomingdale’s website and I think I’m going to pick up a few more from this brand because it fits so well.
Sunday was low-key and lovely. I met a friend for a run at 10 and we ended up going 7 miles. I love running with friends because we chat the whole time and it makes the run pass so quickly. And there’s someone to commiserate with about the hills!
I had a smoothie before the run and dreamed up this brunch while we were running. Sourdough toast with butter, avocado, two eggs and cheddar cheese. Sliced tomatoes and a big bowl of mixed fruit on the side.
The rest of my day was spent cleaning the house, hanging out and walking with these cuties, teaching a group ex class at the Y and making a TJs run.
What’s your favorite summer weekend routine?
Rompers…love them or leave them?
Yes rompers!!! That would is beautiful on you Jen!
Thank you!
Not sure how I feel about the whole romper thing…They look cute, but I always worry about having to de-clothe when wanting to use the bathroom and constant wedgies. LOL! Love Bloomingdales though…that store is just great! 🙂
Ha! Yes. Minor drawback
The romper is great on you!!
Thanks!
Gorgeous romper, and here’s to moving outside of comfort zones! (In the UK we call them jumpsuits… not sure why we’ve settled on a different name?!). And thanks for linking to the brand. I love the ‘Abstract print’ and the ‘Retro Active Crossover.’ You wear colour and patterns well, you should definitely invest in a few more.
What a cute romper! Loved the post!
Isn’t the bloomies in the city the best?! One of my favorite stores 🙂 I haven’t found a romper I love, I bought one this summer but um, have yet to wear it. Yours is so cute!
Yes! They were having lots of good sales when we were there!
Sounds like a great weekend! I’m so sad about summer coming to an end too. It’s my favorite time of year.
