Happy Friday and Happy New Year!
I kicked off my New Year’s Eve by teaching a 6 a.m. hot yoga class at Charlotte Yoga. It was 28 degrees when I left for class so the monkey hat was a must! 🙂
I spent the rest of the day working on the computer, cleaning, in meetings and baking. I whipped up a few treats for a New Year’s Eve get together with friends. I received this fun apron for Christmas and had to break it in!
Later that day I ran five miles before getting dressed and ready for the New Year’s celebration. It felt so great to wrap up the year with a strong run.
Once I arrived at my friend’s house, I quickly put together this kale salad. I massaged curly green kale with lemon juice, olive oil, sea salt and a bit of honey. I topped it with pears, pumpkin seeds, goat cheese and dried cranberries. We had grilled chicken and steak to go along with the salad.
And tons of cheese which I could not stop snacking on over the course of the evening.
Here’s my plate of sweets in all their glory. I made my favorite salted fudge brownies and chocolate chip cookies using the mint chocolate chips I haven’t been able to keep my hands out of. The mint chocolate chips gave the basic chocolate chip cookie a fun upgrade!
We enjoyed a champagne toast as the ball dropped.
I kept my New Year’s outfit simple and all black but dressed it up with my shoes and jacket. I wore black Gap Legging Jeans and a black fitted t-shirt and then added two pieces I received for Christmas.
The first was the Brianna Long-Sleeve Jacket from Guess. I absolutely love the fit of this moto-style jacket and it has some really fun details like zippered cuffs and stud accents around the shoulders.
And the second was Antiago Lace Peep Toe Heels which were also from Guess (we have a great Guess store here in Charlotte at our mall). I never wear shoes this high or this fancy so it was fun for the occasion!
I added a little sparkle to my outfit with long diamond earrings, a diamond necklace and a diamond bracelet. (Earrings and bracelet were costume, necklace the real thing.)
It was the perfect, low-key way to bring in 2015 with close friends. In my next post I’ll share my goals/intentions for the year ahead.
Tell me about your New Year’s Eve celebration this year? Did you go out or stay in? Watch the ball drop or sleep through it?Â
that kale salad sounds fantastic! happy new year 🙂
I love your New Year’s Eve shoes – very cute!
I was in bed by 10:30, so I started 2015 by sleeping.
I have those GAP leggings too! 🙂 I dressed up, went out, and spent most of the day yesterday curled up on the couch with Lucy. The rainy cold weather in Houston made it the perfect day to do that. Happy New Year friend and love that apron! XOXO
You always have the best salad combinations!
I was hoping you’d tell us where the shoes were from! They are gorgeous – I love the lace detail!
Looks like you are having an amazing start to 2015!!! Your apron is adorable AND I LOVE the shoes! 🙂
I was actually out and about only blocks from Times Square on New Years but was totally asleep well before that ball dropped!
