Eating with a baby can be quite the challenge between finding the time for a meal, prepping the food and sitting down to eat it.
This bouncer seat is a huge lifesaver! I keep it in the kitchen and Finn will happily hang out in it for quite a while. It vibrates and plays music and it also helps to give him a paci or something to hold on to. I mainly use the bouncer in the mornings while I’m making coffee and breakfast and in the evenings while I’m throwing something together for dinner.
The funniest thing is that Finn seems to know exactly when it’s time for me to eat the food I have prepared so I usually end up holding him and eating one-handed. 🙂
Here is what a full day of eats with a baby is looking like over here lately.
WHAT I ATE IN A DAY
9 a.m. – Silk Almondmilk Vanilla Yogurt Alternative with bananas, raspberries, blueberries, chia seeds and fig, walnut and tahini granola.
I am eating dairy these days (as you know from all the ice cream that’s been happening around here) but I always keep almond milk in my fridge and I was excited to try this new Almondmilk Yogurt Alternative from Silk. It has similar nutrition to dairy yogurt with 5 grams of protein and live and active cultures. It’s super creamy, dairy and lactose free and has no artificial colors or flavors.
I know so many of you either avoid dairy or also like to incorporate non-dairy products into your diet so I knew you’d be interested in learning about this Almondmilk yogurt alternative from Silk. I loved the vanilla flavor. They also offer peach, strawberry, dark chocolate (YUM), plain and mixed berry acai.

1:30 p.m. – I almost always snack on some sort of chips or pretzels while I’m preparing lunch. I end up eating at least one serving if not two while doing my meal prep.
My lunch this day was avocado, bacon, tomatoes and mayo on a bialy. It was my first time trying bialy and I really liked it!
And after lunch I had the remains of a slice of carrot cake from the fridge. Cake has been such a staple in my diet since pregnancy. I think I have some sort of cake or cupcake 2-3 days per week (and ice cream on the off days……).
7:30 p.m. – A frozen meat lasagna from Pasta & Provisions, shared with a friend. Salad on the side. I ate this portion of lasagna and salad + another serving of both that was the same size as the first. I have really been trying to up my portions with breastfeeding.
9 p.m. – I drank a cup of Mother’s Milk hot tea in bed as I was winding down for the night.
Do you snack while preparing meals?
Favorite ways to eat yogurt? Plain? With fruit? With granola? Any other creative uses for me!?
And don’t forget to download the coupon and try the Silk Almondmilk Yogurt Alternative!
My all time favorite snack is yogurt + peanut butter + chocolate chips. I’ve been dairy free for almost a year while nursing and seriously miss yogurt. I keep seeing these at the store but have never tried them!
The yogurt looks promising! So many non-dairy yogurts seem to lack in the protein department, but 5g isn’t bad. I’ve had to give up dairy while breastfeeding and have been missing having yogurt as a breakfast option.
I hear you on the sweets since pregnancy. I’m not sure a day goes by without some sort of dark chocolate now. ??
Faye full fat plain yogurt. One shake of Penzey’s Lemon Zest. Mix into yogurt. Top with Trader Joe’s Freeze Dried Raspberries and some sliced almonds. When I went to Greece back in July, I also had full fat Greek yogurt with a pile of wildflower honey and walnuts. So, so good.
That lemon zest-raspberry combo sounds awesome!
My favorite yogurt combo for a snack is big bowl of full fat Greek with tons of blueberries or raspberries! Sometimes I need a scoop of nut butter too, just depends.
Being finicky about textures of food, it took me a long time to like yogurt…but now I enjoy it when I have it (which, admittedly, isn’t often). When I do eat it, my favorite approach is to add some granola (I’m partial to Bear Naked’s flavors), and if I have it, some sliced strawberries. Earlier this year, I tried the Silk Almondmilk option at a brunch I hosted, and really liked it. In fact, I liked it more than most traditional yogurts I’ve eaten! So thanks for the coupon…I know what I’m adding to my grocery list this weekend. =)
I always snack while prepping dinner – pita chips (sometimes fresh veggies) are usually my go to! I never put fruit in my yogurt, but I have to have something crunchy, so it’s either cereal or granola. I LOVE that you incorporate “real” desserts into your diet. I have ice cream almost every night (and have been that way for years) and on the days that I don’t, it’s generally some sort of other dessert. I feel like society condemns eating things like real ice cream, cake, cookies, etc. – personally, I really look forward to that little treat at the end of the day!
That bouncy seat has been a lifesaver for us too. We hang things off of it so our little one can reach up and play with toys. The little monkeys don’t come down far enough for her to reach but if you hang something longer, it will! That helps keep her amused for longer…maybe you could even have both hands to eat!
My current yogurt favorite is plain or vanilla greek yogurt with chopped figs, honey and pistachios or chopped walnuts 🙂
Congratulations on your baby boy! No comments on the food but I often ate alone with my baby, and when it was time to eat, I would put him in the bouncy seat and sit on the floor so we were both at the same level – or I would bring the whole seat up to the table, although that made me nervous the more wiggly he got. Either way, I had a dining companion and he had someone at his level : )
