Happy Wednesday!
Zoey is feeling a lot better today. I couldn’t get her to eat or drink anything last night but she woke me up at 4:30 a.m. crying because she was hungry and needed to go outside. She’s moving around and getting back to her normal sweet self. She’s asking for lots of sympathy love and pats.
She’s definitely not thrilled with the cone life.
I promise not to devote another post to golden retrievers but I had to give you a quick update. Here’s what I’ve been eating the last few days.
Cold wraps! I usually do hot pressed wraps but decided to switch it up and I’m loving it. This one is lite mayo, dijon, Applegate ham, tomatoes, romaine, provolone and avocado.
And this one is a mayo mixed with lemon juice and herbs, avocado, Boar’s Head maple turkey, tomatoes, arugula and muenster cheese. I’ve been using these Rudi’s wraps. They hold up really well and don’t fall apart. Side note: I bought blackberries at the store on a whim yesterday and they are so big and sweet!
Love this salad with spinach, spring mix, turkey, strawberries, blackberries, avocado, toasted walnuts, dried cranberries and goat cheese.
Flat Out Wrap pizza with chicken sausage, mushrooms, spinach, sundried tomatoes, goat cheese and mozzarella. Topped with lots of basil. (Tutorial on how to make Flat Out Pizza’s in this post.)
Pre-marinated chicken breast from a local butcher, sauteed zucchini and leftover feta potato salad.
And coming soon…a post about the crazies thing I have ever cooked. Hint: it lives in the sea! ๐
Have a great day!
Aaaaw! Poor Zoey! Those cones are no fun! But I bet she will be back to her old self in no time:) And those wraps look delicious–yum!
Hi Jen, I hope your poochie is better soon! And I love the look of your wraps and salads. I was just thinking of making a little pizza on a pita, but a flat-out wrap is a great idea. So easy! Happy eating! ๐
I haven’t made wrap sandwiches in a long time. They are so versatile…I will have to purchase some on my next trip to the store. Sending you and Zoey lots of good ju ju and a big hug from Lucy! XOXO
Poor baby! Makes me think of the Cone of Shame from Disney’s Up!
Awesome food BTW!
Hi there! I’ve been a loyal reader for years and love the warmth, knowledge, and mix of life on your blog. I’m a mom to four kids and our darling boxer dog, Olive. Olive is 4 and we’ve decided it’s the perfect time to add another dog to the family; I’ve always known two dogs is a wonderful concept but seeing your girls has just thrilled me with the prospect.
We are very interested in getting a Golden Retriever puppy. Because I’ve never had the breed, I wonder if you’d be willing to give some advice in finding a wonderful puppy. We won’t buy from a pet store and would prefer a reputable breeder or even would adopt from a shelter, though I doubt we’d find a golden there.
When researching the breed, I’m overwhelmed with all the information and hope you’ll give me some solid tips. You seem to love the breed so much.
Aw glad she is doing better. I always feel so bad when I see doggies with the cone. It used to make me so sad when my little poodle (Cindy) back in the day would have to wear it from time to time.
Sweet Zoe! I can’t get enough of her!!!
I’m super curious to hear about what you cooked! ๐
I love wraps! Especially with flat-out bread… the texture is hard to beat!
Loving wraps lately too! I usually eat them cold just because I am too lazy to heat them ๐
cold is better during the warm weather months anyway! ๐
How often do you drink wine? Do you think it affects your fitness/health goals?
red wine most nights of the week while cooking dinner. i don’t really feel like it impacts my health/fitness goals other than preventing me from having really defined abs (haha). i will say that if i’m in a training cycle i am definitely more mindful if i have tough or long workouts planned the next day. just like i am with sugar, bread/carbs and everything else…it’s all about finding the right balance for you and what works for one doesn’t work for all. does that help?
Oh those big brown eyes!! She looks so pitiful. I would never stop kissing or petting her!
haha, i rarely do! ๐
