My morning started out beautifully. I slept until 8 a.m. Wednesdays are usually the only day of the work week that I don’t have to be at the gym super early so I take advantage.
I’ll do a little WIAW today since I’m focusing on clean eating this week.
Things took a slight downturn when I stopped for coffee and a smoothie on my way into work and was served what may be the worst smoothie of my life. It was supposed to be “Berry Green” with banana, strawberry, apple juice and spirulina. I cannot stomach apple juice so I asked for a substitute. The girl making my smoothie added cranberry juice instead and upon first sip I puckered up. It was crazy tart! I ended up taking it into work and doctoring it up in the Vitamix. I added more banana, almond milk, more ice and peanut butter. It was only tolerable after that. Oh well…
I had to cover the front desk for a few hours when I got to they gym. I have been thinking it would be fun to do a “day in the life” post son of what it’s like to manage a gym and CrossFit box. Sound interesting?
Lunch was redeeming. As much random thing I could put in a bowl as possible that would remotely complement each other. It worked well, tasted good and kept me satisfied.
I taught and then took CrossFit tonight. I was so excited about today’s WOD. Like I’ve mentioned before, I love longer endurance WODs with running and bodyweight movements. I felt so good during this workout and finished in around 17:50. I have this sick love for push ups so I plowed through those unbroken every round and also managed to do the kettlebell swings unbroken. The knees to elbow were definitely the hardest part for me. My forearms and abs were burning and I had to break those into sets of 3-5.
I actually had time to make a real dinner when I got home tonight. I made Greek turkey patties topped with with sauteed chard and garlic. I used this old recipe from my food blog for the turkey but used goat gouda in lieu of the feta. I think I have decided that I prefer ground chicken over ground turkey but this was an easy and good dinner.
*Edited to add…someone asked about snacks. I totally forgot as I never take pictures of that kind of stuff anymore. Yes, I do snack. No morning snack because I didn’t get my smoothie until almost 10 a.m. I had a Coconut Cream Pie Larabar before CrossFit and snacked while I was making dinner because I was starving!
While we are on the subject of dinner. I went out with a friend for sushi last night and got this beautiful tuna, crab and avocado roll wrapped in cucumber. Have you ever tried sushi wrapped in cucumber instead of rice? It’s really good and not nearly as filling.
Time to plan for my clients tomorrow. I have three PT sessions and one yoga private on top of normal daily GM responsibilities. I am also teaching BodyPump and coaching a CrossFit class. It’s going to be a very busy day!
The sushi looks really good. I may have to try recreating it, because I think I would struggle to find it in Melbourne.
WODs with running and bodyweight exercises are my absolute favorite! I think I am going to have to borrow this one for Friday. And I would love to see a day in the life post.
Do you not snack at all during the day? I know you’ve said you don’t post everything you eat, but I’m just curious 🙂 everything looks delish!
yes, i actually remembered after i published this post that i should have included that. i usually have a handful of almonds in the morning and an apple, protein shake or bar in the afternoon. yesterday i had a coconut cream pie larabar before crossfit. i also usually snack while i’m making dinner!
Yes! Love the naruto rolls (cucumber instead of rice). I always get the spicy tuna naruto roll. They are the best!
yummy! definitely join going to try the greek turkey patties!! loved your yoga class last weekend – you are an awesome teacher!
My client did make those PB Chocolate chip cookies and they were flipping amazing! I had one last night along with 2 chocolate covered strawberries and I was in heaven. Yep it was my sweet treat night and the sweet treats definitely hit the spot. 😉 Thanks for always letting me pass her your delicious dessert recipes!
Oh I am going to do this workout tonight! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Yum! I’m going to ask for cucumber instead of rice on one of my rolls next time for sure. Can you recommend any frozen veggie or salmon/mahi mahi/etc. burgers that you like? I don’t eat meat but I’m looking for something quick like that to throw on bread or a salad for a quick dinner! xoxo
I totally have to try a roll with cucumber instead of rice. . . sounds awesome!
Where did you go to get that awesome sushi wrapped in cucumber? Yum-o!
My boyfriend made me that cucumber/rice-less roll with rare tuna. Soooo delicious and light
I would love to read a “day in the life” post. I just recently became a certified personal trainer and am so excited to get started in my fitness career!!
I would love to see a “day in the life” post!
I am TOTALLY with you on loving the longer WODs. Coming from triathlon/cyling/running longer distances, it’s hard for me to give it all in 4 minutes. My body’s expecting another hour’s worth of activity and I think I hold myself back in those super short, intense workouts! It’s going to be interesting to see how I do with 10 minutes for this week’s open workout since it’s kind of an in betweener! Good luck to you! 🙂
I always get my sushi with a cucumber wrap instead of rice! I love the shrimp roll (boiled shrimp, avocado & cucumber inside) and the smoked salmon roll (smoked salmon & avocado). Both are so good!
I’ve never heard of the sushi wrapped in cucumber instead of rice! Brilliant!
What restaurant did you go to to get that sushi roll? This Charlotte girl would love to know!
that WOD looks super fun!! i would love it too!!
