Workouts this week have been good. Lots of yoga, lots of strength and little running. I’m just really not feeling the running right now.
But I did have to get some running in on Wednesday in honor of National Run Day. I did this WOD but substituted a 500 meter run for the rowing. This WOD was hard! The overhead squats totally toasted your shoulders for the burpees. And four rounds of 24 burpees is just so many burpees. Between last Thursday’s and Wednesday’s WOD, I completed 236 burpees in under 7 days. I don’t feel bad about not running…the burpees are cardio on steroids.
I recovered from that crazy WOD with a hot yoga class and then came home and made this dinner. Chicken Cordon Bleu (from Whole Foods meat case) topped with some honey mustard. Steamed green beans and sauteed patty pan squash and mushrooms on the side.
Smoothie breakfast was back. Green smoothie with kale, spinach, dates, banana, strawberries, almond milk and almond butter from Whole Foods. I LOVE that they don’t add ice to their smoothies because a) they’re not watered down and b) they’re not freezing cold.
I came home for lunch today and made one of my “throw it all in a bowl” meals. I haven’t had one in weeks so it was extra delicious. I cooked quinoa and lentils in vegetable broth and then tossed it with tomatoes, artichokes, avocado, kalamata olives and super greens (kale, spinach and chard). Topped with goat cheese and spinach artichoke hummus.
I taught BodyPump tonight for the first time in two weeks. Such a good workout. I will be sore tomorrow for sure. Recovery dinner was brown rice, salmon baked with Trader Joe’s Thai Curry Sauce and steamed broccolini, mushrooms and bok choy with soy sauce.
And last, I’ve been promising my yoga students a playlist because they’ve been liking my current selections. This is probably my favorite playlist that I’ve put together in months (and I make a new one every week). I’ve played it over and over without getting sick of it.
Have a happy Friday!
Honey mustard is the best! You can’t go wrong with that stuff. Your salad looks really good too. I’ve never tried artichoke hummus – I’ll have to look for it at the store.
Girl, your playlists are EPIC!!!
Happy Friday!! I love “throw it in a bowl and call it a salad” meals…they are my go to 🙂
I love that playlist! There’s a few songs I don’t know on there that I need to check out. Thank you for sharing it!
Your “throw it all in a bowl” looks AMAHZING!
I can relate to your WOD. I tried crossfit for the first time last night at our YMCA. I did 75 (modified) burpees. What a cool experience. I loved the goal setting and sense of accomplishment, similar to how i feel when running. Wow!
Do you use spotify? It’d be great if you made your playlists there – then we could follow them!
Love your necklace in the green smoothie picture!
I love when smoothies don’t have ice in them too! I prefer the creamy texture to icy. Thanks for the playlist – I need some new tunes!
I love when you share your playlists!
