Happy Halloween! It’s “WOD-O-WEEN” here at Metro CrossFit.
We encouraged everyone to dress up for today’s WOD and our director of CrossFit programmed a super creative workout.
Zombie run = normal run with a plate held out in front
Pumpkin Smash = ball slams
Candy Bag Carries = dumbbell famer walks
Pica Boos = pull ups
Gremlin Crawls = put feet on metal plates and walk with their hands
It may be fun but it’s also crazy hard. It’s taking most people 20-25 minutes to finish this one! I decided to pass on the WOD-O-WEEN workout given that my massage therapist commented today that my traps were swollen from the past two days of CrossFit. So many snatches, push press, cleans and toes to bar. Ouch. Also, I’ve been feeling kind of dehydrated and off the past couple of days. I don’t think that I did a good job replenishing fluids and electrolytes after my intense weekend of yoga.
Breakfast this morning was plain Greek yogurt with pumpkin butter, bananas, apples, granola and maple almond butter.
And lunch was this amazing Curried Pumpkin Lentil Soup topped with Greek yogurt and cilantro and served with naan on the side for dipping. Orange pumpkin soup is very Halloween appropriate, right? I used this recipe as a base and I’m really pleased with how it turned out. It was relatively simple to put together and is healthy and hearty. I really like soups that aren’t brothy and have a little more staying power. This soup has all kinds of interesting ingredients like apples, red lentils, curry powder, garam masala, coconut milk and more. The leftovers just keep getting better and better.
Enjoy your Halloween and eat some treats! 🙂
Ohhh that soup looks divine. I love curry ANYTHING and especially love pumpkin so this sounds like a winner. Happy Halloween Jen! 🙂
We were supposed to dress up for the WOD at my gym but I was the only one– Tom Cruise, Risky Business… That workout looks nuts.. and fun 🙂
How often do you see your massage therapist?? I get so tight from lifting and running–that’s why yoga is great for me
I am wondering the same thing. Thanks!
That soup is totally Halloweeny 🙂 I love the Halloween themed WOD…so clever!! Happy November!
Love the names of the exercises. So cute!
