Hola! I’m in the Dominican Republic until Monday but wanted to check in while I wait for room service to bring my breakfast. Then I think I’m going to take a long walk on the beach followed by a massage and then laying on the beach reading. It’s a tough life here. The wedding was last night and it was perfect and SO fun. I’ll do a separate post later but you can check out some Instagram pics for a sneak peek.
I have tons of stuff coming up for you on the blog this week – recipes, workouts and more! Right now I am going to do a quick recap of the week in workouts. It shows how I modify workouts when I’m pressed for time (earlier this week when I was getting ready to leave for my trip) and vacation workouts.
Here we go…
Monday
90-minute hot vinyasa yoga class
Tuesday
20 minute AMRAP on my own of…
400 meter run
15 step ups to 20 inch box
21 ab mat sit ups
I finished 5 rounds + 1 run
Wednesday
REST – travel to Georgia and hang out with my grandmother!
THURSDAY
20-minute tabata workout (at the early hour of 5:30 a.m. before heading to the airport!)
Friday
75 minute vinyasa yoga class at resort
4 mile treadmill run with sprint and hill intervals – they have a great little gym here at the resort
Saturday
30 minute treadmill run with hill and sprint intervals
100 front squats with 25 lb plate, 100 stability ball crunches
Sunday
Beach walk
How was your week in workouts? Do you workout on vacation? I usually try to do something short and sweet to get me sweating before I head out to the beach for a day of relaxation!

When I’m on the road I usually to try to do short but effective workouts such as treadmill sprints, or tabata workouts in my room.
So jealous of your trip!
i usually try to run/workout on vacation. lately i was in mexico and did some beach runs — those are TOUGH! the dr looks beautiful!
The Dominican Republic sounds so nice right about now….I’m so tired of being cold! I shorten my workouts, increase the intensity, and do bodyweight workouts when I’m traveling, busy, etc. Enjoy the rest of your trip and soak up some vit D!
Sounds like a fabulous trip so far! I love short and sweet workouts like tabatas when I’m on vacation as well. I do love going on scenic walks too! Enjoy the rest of your time in the DR!
would love to hear more about the resort – I would like to head to an all inclusive somewhere but my experiences have been limited to the RIU Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta, not the greatest. certainly no room service.
I completed your run, shuffle jump workout yesterday and boy am I feeling it today!! I loved it! Definitely tough but very effective! My husband attempted it as well but only made it 5 min in! 🙂 Have a great rest of your vacay!
Sounds like a great week of workouts! I usually try to fit in something on vacations! It helps that my husband is such a crazy runner because it gets me running on vacations as well! I always try to remember how much better I feel afterwards!
I always try to run while I am on vacation…its a great way to explore a new area!
I always make it a goal to get moving in one way or another on vacation or while visiting relatives during the holidays. This time around the weather was not cooperating with me for an outside run or mixed body weight circuit workout. I remembered that I had saved your total body tabata workout in my feedly and pulled it up. I completed the workout (and added on my own 6th set) on Thanksgiving morning before everyone woke up combined with an ab burner at the end for a 30 minute workout. It was fantastic! Thanks!
Hope the wedding was amazing and you are refreshed for a crazy December!
Total body tabata.
Take me to the beach NOW! Like you I always try to do a workout early in the morning so I can relax and enjoy the rest of the day and whatever I have planned. I want to go on vacation, because I cannot remember the last time I did. That’s so sad…Time to book something. LOL!
My week in workouts was good, but I took Friday, Saturday, and today off. It’s pretty rare that I take more than one day off in a row and I just felt I needed it. I needed the extra sleep and I needed to relax, but boy am I ready to hit the ground running tomorrow 🙂
The first picture is beautiful- love the yellow pants! I usually workout on vacation because I am normally eating more than usually, so it helps me not feel bad about indulging. Great workout- it definitely covers everything! 🙂
gorgeous, gorgeous views. goodness. there’s nothing like a sunset on the beach!
Beautiful photos!
My ‘vacations’ are usually to visit family and friends on Maui where I was born and raised. So it depends on what is going on whether I work out or not. A lot of time we spend days at the beach so that keeps me active….walking, swimming, climbing on the rocks, etc.
