Hi everyone! I’m currently en route to Mumford & Sons in a borrowed Honda Odyssey with seven other girls. It’s a two hour drive to the concert venue so I’m trying to knock out some work since I had to leave so early today (and update you guys!) before an evening of tailgating, music and friends!
Thanks for the supportive comments around the merging of the two blogs. I know that for some of you fitness + workouts + healthy food + “regular and splurge recipes” is a weird thing but that’s kind of what I’m all about so we’re going to roll with it. 😉
Today I do have workout and healthy food stuff to share so here we go.
I have been feeling pretty blah about working out lately so I was thrilled to have a good one on Monday. I got a new one rep max on my back squat at 165. It was definitely a needed boost since I’ve been feeling so stagnant about my progress/performance lately. I loved this AMRAP WOD that we did and I got seven rounds done in the 18 minutes and did double unders for every round. Working on them so much!
Tuesday was just yoga as I was recovering from a sore booty thanks to hiking, squats and thrusters but I was ready to get back in the game today. The programmed WOD for the day was “Abbate” which is a CrossFit hero WOD honoring U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Matthew T. Abbate. Matthew was 26, from Honolulu, Hawaii and assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, based out of Camp Pendleton, California. He was killed on December 2, 2010, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. (source)
It was a tough WOD but I do okay with running workouts. I did clean and push press instead of jerks at 55 pounds. I finished in a little over 29 minutes. It was a good Hero WOD to do on a sad day.
I’ve been eating some really good stuff. Loved this turkey wrap and red pepper, tomato and feta soup.
Lots of salads including this one for dinner with mixed greens, tomatoes, avocado, dried cranberries, pecans, goat cheese and figs with salmon and balsamic.
And this one for lunch with mixed greens, arugula, kale, chick peas, cucumbers, red peppers, pepperonici, olives, feta, pine nuts and a mix of red wine and balamic dressing.
Continuing the smoothie trend…I have a great combo going on this week with banana, spinach, pineapple, almonds, dates and almond milk. I love the pineapple/banana combo and it’s bright green!
I brought back the roasted veggies this week for dinner but I’m not ready. Brussels, mushrooms and sweet potatoes were a little too “fall” for me. I need a few more weeks of this summer produce! The chicken with Bone Suckin’ sauce was great though.
We’re getting close! This show is going to be awesome judging from everything I saw from my Atlanta friends last night and can’t wait to tell y’all all about it later this week. I’ll be posting photos and videos on Instagram and Facebook tonight!
It’s still so hot in Houston (I’m not complaining, just saying) that I am not ready for fall flavors yet either. Cannot buy pumpkin yet…it’s hard to, when it is still almost 100 degrees out. Hope you had a fabulous time at the concert. WAHOO! XOXO
Have so much fun!!
Now you’ve got me craving brussels sprouts…and yoga!
Have fun at the concert 🙂
Congratulations on the new PR! Not going to lie, I’ve been eating brussel sprouts all summer!
Have a great time!!! And awesome job on the PR!!!
I cannot wait to hear about the concert! also, I agree on the roasted veggies….I’ve been doing them this week and it’s so HOT but they are still delish!
It was an awesome show!! Though I wonder how long it took everyone to get out of the crazy parking area!
forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
