I know everyone is probably sick of Oscar talk but I am so excited that Natalie Portman won Best Actress last night. Sadly, I was way too exhausted to stay up late enough to see it happen but I checked the news first thing this morning and watched her acceptance speech online.

Natalie Portman is my all-time favorite actress (I think I loved her most in Closer and Garden State). She is not only extremely beautiful but also smart, talented, driven and so composed. I’m amazed by her commitment to her role in Black Swan. Although I’m sure her background in ballet helped, I read that she trained for a year to prepare for the role.
And one last note…her co-star Mila Kunis looked phenomenal last night as well.

Could there be two more beautiful women starring together in a movie?
Back to real life…I was invited to watch the Oscar’s at my friend Lia’s house. She hosted a pajama party with mimosas and brunch foods.
It was the perfect end to a busy weekend and it was fun to watch the red carpet with a group of girls rather with a guy. (Sorry Brandon!)
I was only able to make it until about 9:30 before heading home. I was so tired and had an early wake up call to teach BodyPump this morning. I drank a cup of hot tea when I got home and then crashed.
Sunday was another great day in yoga teacher training. We kicked it off with an ashtanga practice. I was feeling sore from Saturday’s yoga marathon but was surprised to find that as I progressed through my practice, my soreness faded away. By the time we were done, I felt really good.
We went straight into another meditation practice after ashtanga. I found that I had an easier time with it yesterday than I did on Saturday, even though we went 10 minutes longer for a total of 30 minutes of meditation. I think this is mostly due to my body feeling exhausted and not really having a lot of “fight” to give to sitting still. 🙂
Lunch was another trip to Earth Fare. I hit the salad bar pretty hard since I never had a chance to eat breakfast (so unlike me!).
Spinach topped with a variety of prepared salads and a Pomegranate Chobani on the side. So delicious!
We spent the rest of the afternoon discussing power sequencing and how to plan a class. I loved this portion of the training and am excited about our homework – we have to write out a plan for a 90-minute class and label all of the poses by anatomical planes of the body. I am a big fan of pre-planning for classes and always write out plans for my sculpt classes so I can’t wait to try to create one for a 90-minute yoga class!
I’m posting today’s post on my lunch break so that I can hang out with Brandon tonight. I feel like I’ve hardly seen him for days. I’m not sure what we’re going to do but going out for pizza has been tossed around.
Lunch today…
The usual…hummus, avocado, sprouts, spinach and mozz on whole wheat. Baby carrots and sweet strawberries on the side.
Happy Monday! Hope your week is off to a great start!
I love those two actresses too! So beautiful 🙂 I couldn’t stay up to watch the Oscar’s either. I crashed after the “movie musical” sequence.
Have a wonderful week! I’m finally moving into my new place this week but that means David is leaving until October. 🙁
Love that party idea–totally remembering it for next year!
I love the idea of an Oscars “brunch” party! That sounds like the perfect girls’ night!
I was so happy Natalie Portman won! She was phenomenal in Black Swan. Glad to see your reference to Garden State…I loved that movie and feel like it was completely underrated!
Loved having you and the girls over! Must do it again sometime 😉
