I am in a great place right now with my yoga and fitness work. I currently have five permanent yoga classes, two group strength classes and I’m training a client twice a week. Yes, you read that right! I’m personal training after an almost two year hiatus. A friend of mine asked if I would consider training her a couple of times a week. I literally had one open window on Tuesdays/Thursdays and our schedules aligned.
I feel like I’m in such a sweet spot because I get to teach yoga but not too much yoga, and I get to mix up my teaching with some group strength. I’m teaching two Strong classes at VIBE5 and they are so, so much fun! I absolutely love the energy of group fitness. I’m also enjoying working with someone one-on-one again, especially because her goal is to build strength and muscle.
So all of this together is resulting in my feeling very energized and inspired around yoga and fitness. I feel like my brain is exploding with ideas for trainings, classes and workouts, and I really want to figure out a way to share more of it online. Ears are open if you have any ideas or requests. 🙂
In the meantime, I’ve been posting a lot of workouts on Instagram and I’m doing my best to try and share them here too since I know many of you don’t Instagram or also like to have Pinnable graphics to save.
For today, I have a yoga-inspired core workout to share. This bodyweight workout requires no equipment (you don’t even need shoes!) and will challenge your core in so many ways. It works not just abdominal strength but also the obliques, hip flexors, glutes and back muscles.
YOGA-INSPIRED CORE WORKOUT GRAPHIC
The workout has seven movements that you will do in succession. You can do this one time through for a quick core add-on to another workout or run, or you can repeat for several rounds for a core-focused workout.
FYI: I am wearing an Onzie long-sleeve crop top + Lulu Hi-Rise Wunder Unders, which are a staple in my wardrobe! (the above are affiliate links)
YOGA-INSPIRED CORE WORKOUT VIDEO
Here’s a video demonstrating all of the movements in this workout. Please let me know if you have questions about any of them!
Looking for more bodyweight workouts? I have a ton on my workout page!
Let me know if you try this workout. And as always, I love your feedback, ideas and requests!
Love the graphic and the videos!! So helpful and easy to reference! ?? Thank you for going above and beyond and sharing.
Thanks for posting this workout! I will be traveling this week with no access to equipment and this will help keep me moving.
Still working on my core strength at six months postpartum. This is great — thank you!
I’m so happy that you’re finding just the right balance in your yoga and strength training teaching!
I did this workout yesterday after seeing it on Instagram and I’m sore today! What a great workout. I especially loved that this was yoga-inspired so it felt gentle on my body, yet it was tough and effective. ?
Hi Jen,
Thanks for such thoughtful, detailed information. I was trying to find the link for the video and can’t seem to! If I click on the link, it takes me to the blog and I am not finding a link there either. Any idea what I can do to find it?
Thanks so much!
Lisa
