I started today in the best way possible – an ashtanga practice at Y2 with Sarah (aka The Yogi Monster!). When we arrived at the studio (at 6 a.m.!!!) it was apparent that neither of us was especially feeling the early morning practice. We ended up having a really relaxed and fun practice and made it through the entire primary series.
There was a lot of laughter. Especially regarding poses such as supta kurmasana…

And Garbha Pindasana…which I tried to opt out of but my teacher was having none of that.

You know that ashtanga is getting weird when your teacher has to break out lotion to get your hands to slide through your legs to get you into a bound lotus. Yikes is all I have to say to that. It was slightly difficult to keep a straight face!
After yoga I rushed off to work where I enjoyed some overnight oats at my desk. Lunch was the return of an old favorite.
Peanut butter, honey and banana on whole wheat. Died and gone to heaven. Guilt overcame me and I made a salad on the side to get some greens in. Spinach, strawberries, feta and a drizzle of balsamic and olive oil. Bubbly water and Runner’s World on the side!
I taught BodyPump tonight and class was rocking. I had a great, motivated group that was ready to work. And I made them work – a six minute lunge track and tons of pushups in the shoulder track. It seems like everyone is getting back from summer vacations and back into their routines. I’ve noticed bigger numbers in my yoga classes and teaching BodyPump.
After BodyPump I met up with some Charlotte bloggers for a super secret mission that will be shared at a later date! 😀
Dinner tonight was leftovers.
Eggplant parmesan, pole beans and whole grain pasta.
Time to pack up for the beach!!! I’m heading down to Isle of Palms after work tomorrow. It’s going to be a quick trip but totally worth it to get some beach time in one at one of our favorite places on Earth!
OH MY! Those poses are freaky! But it is amazing that you can do that with your body!
Omg do you actually get into those positions? Hooow? Go you! Hope you have an amazing time at the beach!
Jen – the only way I get into those positions is when I am put in them – definitely not on my own!!!! Hope you’re enjoying NJ!
